Pavitra Ganga's policy brief launched on Water Digest Awards 2019-2020

Pavitra Ganga's Policy Brief on determinants for (un)successful waste water treatment and resource recovery was presented and launched during the online Water Digest Water Awards 2019-2020.

Project coordinators Dr. Paul Campling (VITO) and Anshuman (TERI) introduced the policy brief to the audience with a video message (first video). This was followed by the official launch of the document by the honorable minister of the Ministry of Jal Shakti Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

In his inauguration speech (second video), Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Director-General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) also warmly welcomed the Policy brief as a very useful instrument for the policy development in India and congratulated all the project partners with the result.

The Pavitra Ganga policy brief is the first deliverable (D2.1) of the Water Governance work package. It brings together the learnings from successful and unsuccessful case studies from India and EU with an analysis of the Indian and EU policy and regulatory frameworks. Together with relevant stakeholders from the Central, State and local level in India for the two selected demonstration sites (Delhi and Kanpur), it intends to formulate recommendations to support the existing and future policy and law reforms in India.

The policy brief investigates more precisely governance factors, which influence the sustainability and market uptake of sustainable wastewater treatment and resource recovery reuse (RRR) systems in India and beyond.
