Pavitra Ganga Project launched in the presence of Secretary U.P. Singh

 

 

 

On March 2nd the Pavitra Ganga project was officially launched at the IIT Delhi in the attendance of Secretary U.P. Singh and other Indian and European dignitaries.

Prof. T.R. Sreekrishnan from IIT Delhi welcomed the participants and then Mr. Anshuman from TERI presented the background of the Pavitra Ganga project.

The key note address was delivered by Shri U. P. Singh, Secretary, Department of Water Resources, MInistry of Jal Shakti, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation who shared his experiences in the water sector.

He highlighted that river cleaning is a continuous process and that he looks forward to the project as being a part of the solution towards cleaning the Ganga. He then launched the https://pavitra-ganga.eu/en website.

Shri D. P. Mathuria, Executive Director (Technical), National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), MInistry of Jal Shakti stated that the NMCG looks for partners to work on the river Ganga and that they are interested in techno-economically feasible solutions.

Ms. Tania Friederichs, Head of Research & Innovation Counsellor, EU Delegation to India shared that they look forward to increase the impact of the research that is being funded. The key expectation is that the research should solve a problem through a holistic approach while also coordinating with other H2020 funded projects.
